About

Made by Developers, for Developers.

More than 10,000 developers use our tools to build ExpressionEngine sites for their clients.

We offer tools for member management, data architecture, system performance, usability, API integration, bells and whistles and much more. All of these tools have been tried and proven with our own clients. We bring our experience and expertise to your project through the solutions we’ve developed over time.

Solspace has been developing ExpressionEngine based solutions for its own client base for more than 10 years. During that time we have had occasion to abstract our solutions into add-ons for ExpressionEngine. We make these solutions available to other developers so that they may bring their client sites up to speed more quickly and easily. In many cases one can purchase a group of add-ons from Solspace for a few hundred dollars and by doing so save many thousands of dollars in development expenses and many weeks of project time.

All of our solutions have clients in mind. Our solutions are regularly used by us for our own client engagements. This means that our solutions tend to help you serve your client needs before you even know they exist.

Team

Mitchell Kimbrough

Mitchell Kimbrough

President / CEO

Mitchell Kimbrough founded Solspace back in the day, back when all of this stuff was just pMachine Pro.

Before all that, Mitchell was a student of Philosophy and Religion at Stanford. He was going to be a professor. He was going to get a Ph.D. and junk. Then one day when he was sitting around he realized that he would have to wait for some old fart to vacate his chair in some department at a university somewhere, anywhere. And then maybe fight and scrap for tenure. And publish stuff. And what-not.

So he went into web software and web sites instead.

Mitchell is the husband of a great wife. And the daddy of two super cute little critters. Solspace is also his baby, but not as cute.

Chris Ruzin

Chris Ruzin

Developer

Hailing from the best city on Earth, Austin, TX, Chris has been working with Solspace for several years. He does not live in an igloo because Texas is friggin’ hot and he’d rather use ice for more important things like keeping his water cold.

Over the years his role at Solspace has bounced between software developer, site developer and Mitchell annoyer. His current role is a mix of all three.

When he’s not working, Chris likes to mountain bike, look for geocaches, watch movies, play games on his Xbox and hang with friends.

Christy Collins

Christy Collins

Developer

Christy works for Solspace clients from rural upstate New York.  She has twelve years of experience in web development and project management and seven years of experience with ExpressionEngine.

Kelsey Martens

Kelsey Martens

Software Operations Manager

Born and raised in Canada, I work for Solspace from my igloo, where I live with my wife and 3 cats. As Software Operations Manager, I oversee everything related to Software. My favorite part of the job is being involved with building new software, or making major enhancements to existing software.

Eric Barstad

Eric Barstad

Developer

Eric lives in an igloo like Kelsey (but not the same igloo—not that there’s anything wrong with that) and has a Masters degree that’s almost as useless as Mitchell’s.

Nicolas Bottari

Nicolas Bottari

Software Technical Support

Once a life-science researcher turned EE web developer after living through Japan for almost eight years. Currently living in Montréal, Canada.

Missy Ruzin

Missy Ruzin

Billing and Accounts Receivable

Missy has been working with Solspace since November 2008. She handles the billing and accounts receivable and is, in fact, real.

Greg Ferrell

Greg Ferrell

Lead Software Developer

Born and raised in Kentucky, USA, I wish that I lived with Kelsey, in his Igloo in Canada because I like cats and it’s too hot here. Sadly, I don’t think my lovely, heat loving wife would go for that, so for now, her and I live in Louisville, KY and I work for Solspace as a software developer.

At Solspace, I develop software and attend to bug reports. (Most of these are lies by Kelsey and Mitchell because they are entertained by inventing work for people, but sometimes they are real issues and I fix them.)

In my spare time I like to travel, experiment with software, game, and watch Star Trek with my amazing wife.

Hope Forstenzer

Hope Forstenzer

Client Operations Manager

Hope Forstenzer was born in the piney woods of Manhattan Island. Like a good Jewish girl, she married a doctor. Like a not so good Jewish girl, she bucked her mother’s desire for her to be a Rabbi and instead took up glassblowing and spent many years running her own graphic design studio before agreeing to join Mitchell and his merry band. She currently resides in the swampy goo that is Baltimore, which is also known as Charm City, although no one really knows why it’s called that.

Jim Wyse

Jim Wyse

Software Support Team

Jim is an engineer with 20+ yrs experience building custom automation equipment for the electronics industry.
He got into web design/development as the demand for real time display of production data came around. A web based interface was the only true solution for production managers and technicians.
Branching out from there, he now runs the Web Team at UMass Boston.  He also plays guitar an several area ensembles, spends a lot of time at fastpitch softball games with his daughter, Kaera.  He doesn’t sleep much, has been called a vampire and has stock in Red Bull.
