My first client to use ExpressionEngine asked for a calendar for their site. They wanted to have repeating events. I told them I thought a lot of people might want that functionality, but it was not available in ExpressionEngine yet. That must have been like 5 years ago.

The Solspace Calendar module, written by Brent Wilson, allows you to use weblog entries to create calendars, and events within those calendars. Events can have simple or complex rules for repetition. And since calendars and events are weblog entries, anything a weblog entry can do, a calendar or event can do too.

Calendars on websites are complex to build and maintain. To this end we have included ready-made calendar styles and template tags to make your job easier. You can have granular control if you wish, or you can turn things over to the Calendar module to handle a lot of formatting for you.

What good is a calendar if it cannot be shared by way of import and export? The Calendar module allows you to import and export from and to applications that use the ICS format such as Google Calendar, iCal, Outlook, and more.

The Calendar module takes the place and surpasses the capabilities of a related add-on offered by Solspace called Repeet. We will soon be announcing an upgrade incentive for current users of Repeet. We will soon be discontinuing sales or Repeet and recommend that our customers use Calendar instead.

Pete and Repeet walked into a bar. Pete passed out. Who was left?

This news has made me a very happy developer. While Repeet can be good in a pinch, it’s nice to finally have a true calendar add-on for EE.

I hope it’s been well-tested around DST.  That’s where I always had issues with Repeet - some events would reflect the time change, and some wouldn’t.

@Boyink Times (and dates) are handled completely differently in Calendar than in Repeet. Simply put, DST is no longer an issue.

What happens to people who already owned Repeet and have recently purchased Calendar too without seeing the upgrade offer? Thanks
