Insert image(s) in posts

I’m using this extension now on a site and it works great (custom field hard coded into template). Problem is, the client wants to be able to insert multiple images (preferably with captions) at positions of her choosing in blog posts. Is there any way to do that with the File Extension? The only way I could think of was to create separate custom fields (photo2, photo3, etc.), allow EE tags in entries, and then instruct client how to insert tag. Seems kludgy, but much reading in EE forums doesn’t reveal any great solutions that I could find, so I thought I’d ask here about any ways to use the File extension for this purpose.

Question about file upload process

I recently purchased this product and i works find. But i’m running into issues with large file uploading and users not knowing if it’s working.
So my question is:
Is there a way showing a loading image of a gif while the file is uploading? And if so is there any advice and how to accomplish this task?

When I click on the File Upload link in the SAEF then the photo-upload template pop-up as it is supposed to. I choose a file and click upload and it does get uploaded , i do see all the images in the desired folder.

But then I click on the Place Image and Close Window link and it refreshes and goes back to my main homepage URL and nothing gets placed into the field in the SAEF.

Any help/advise with this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Is the form name this:"exp:weblog:entry_form “, so it would be entry_form, correct?

Please advise.

Custom Field Error message with File Upload

I’m getting an error message saying

Notice: Undefined index: id in /home/keshding/public_html/eecore/system/modules/file_upload/mod.file_upload.php on line 191

and


No custom field was provided to receive the link created by file upload

And i dont understand why? I created a weblog and a custom field to hole my upload image and it just isn’t working for my.

Unwanted line break

I’m not sure if this is because of the File extension, but it’s one possible cause, so here goes. I’m working on a photo gallery based largely on some work Ingmar Greil did, discussed in this thread. I mention this so you’ll know I’m not a whiz at php, just working at the cut-and-paste level. The problem that I’m having is that the rendered code sometimes breaks into a new line immediately after the image name. I’ve tried a bunch of different things, including uploading a few different files and sometimes it breaks, sometimes it doesn’t. I haven’t been able to figure out why. Here’s the code I’m using in the template:

I’ve spent hours on this today and cannot figure out what could be causing those random line breaks. Has the File Extension ever been known to add spaces or other hidden characters to the file names on upload? Any other ideas?

can upload to any directory?

I am just curious if there is a way to upload to any directory without having to setup an upload section in EE. in other words, lets say in EE I have a “clients” directory where anyone can upload, but i want to be able to upload inot subdirectories inside “clients” which coinside with the {username} tag.

so “clients” is an upload directory in EE.

can I do something like:
destination="clients/{username}"
or
destination="clients/some-other-name"
??????

Insert URL not Link into Custom-Field

hi folks

i’m very confused: i use the File-Upload-Module on my own site and on one of my customers.

now if i upload a file on the customer-site and place the image into the custom-field (type="hidden") the EE-URL (f.ex. «{filedir_12}test.png») has been placed into this field…

now if i upload a fiel on my own site and place the image into the custom-field (type="text") the Link (f.ex. < img src = “{filedir_12}test.png” alt… / >) has been placed into this field…

BUT i need only the URL (as it does on the customer-site, but i can’t change the field-type to hidden! it has to be text) … where can i set this pref? I haven’t change anything neither on the customter nor on my own site

File Upload plugged into SAEF rather than through Pop-Up

Is there anyway in the world we can have a more traditional file upload field rather than a popup window for it? I’m a bit perplexed as why ExpressionEngine opted for such a non-traditional method of uploading information.. I do see it’s uses, but it totally breaks conventional wisdom for the front-end for those more technically declined.

I recall reading some threads on the EE boards about this, but no resolutions. Was wondering is Solspace has any idea how to implement this considering you’ve done some amazing modules already.

I have been thinking of running ExpressionEngine for a couple sites, but one important aspect of them is user-generated content. A normal SAEF is fine, but when it comes to uploading images and files, a more traditional method is a total must.

Alas, if File Upload just had a "URL only" parameter

This would be really nice, as there’s no version of the extract_url plug in that I find works consistently (likely to do with interactions with the SAEF or Form Helper...)

How hard would it be to add a “URL only” parameter in the file placement part of File Upload, if the Expression Engine file upload gives you the options of embedded link or URL only?
