Primary Category 1.5

The Primary Category extension allows you to assign a primary category to an entry in ExpressionEngine with only one extra click. When you view a front-end page and have a weblog entries loop you can pull the primary category variables like all native EE category variables. Using the exp:primary_category loop, you can pull the same variables, so you have more flexibility. You can also have Primary Category remember the categories and primary categories you assign to entries to apply to the next entry, as well as configure the extension to require a Primary Category on a per Weblog basis. Additionally, your regular categories list is organized in a neat and tidy, controlled manner.

Edit Categories option disappears

I noticed the Edit Categories option disappears when the extension is activated (in Firefox 2). Is there possibly a fix for this?

Primary Category interferes with the adding new category pop-up window

When the primary category extension is installed, this behavior happens:

1) Click from an entry editing screen to add a new category—a category popup window appears

2) Click the “Close” button in that window—the popup window should close, but instead, that window loads the CP Home page and doesn’t close.

Also, the category list should refresh, but it doesn’t.

This is probably due to the failing of the javascript in that popup window, and while the failure of the window to close is a small and easy thing to ignore, the fact that the category list doesn’t refresh is a bit of a bummer.

Undefined offset

The following appears at the top of my Publish page.

Notice: Undefined offset: 0 in [snip] extensions/ext.primary_category_ext.php on line 266

What does it mean?

(I have a catgory assigned to this Weblog and it it appearing under the Category tab, as does the Primary Category selection.)

Error after 1.6.3 upgrade

Following upgrade to 1.6.3, the edit entry screen for any post shows following error, with a white screen.

Notice: Undefined variable: r in [snip] /extensions/ext.primary_category_ext.php on line 400

Note that I am also getting an error with the Tag module.

Sometimes, I can’t drag a category over an existing primary category

I can’t explain why, but sometimes, I can’t drag a category overtop of / to replace an existing primary category.

I can give you a login to my site to test this, but it’s for this entry (I put it here so I can find it later)

I’ve tried in several different browsers with this article, and it is at least reproducible across multiple browsers: Camino 1.6, Safari 3.1.1, Firefox 2.0.0.14

Hmmm. Firefox’s Firebug says…

And safari says:

Value undefined (result of expression $("div.cat_drag").draggable) is not object.

I really like the scrolling list for categories.

Any possibility of implementing a collapsible hierarchical interface?

I have one list with 50 categories in three levels, and being able to drill down to select categories would be great.

This is been requested more than once in the EE forums ...

In any case, really nice extension!

Primary Category displays categories when none are assigned

If you have a blog that has no category group assigned, Primary Category displays a long list of categories that are not assigned to that blog.

Can’t get any results in EE 1.6.2

I can’t seem to get the tags to output any data. The plugin shows in the edit emtry page fine, I can choose a primary category but when I place the tags in the template nothing appears on the rendered page. Am I missing something? I’m using

{exp:primary_category weblog="{my_weblog}"} {primary_category_name} {/exp:primary_category}

and I did set the my_weblog variable.
