The Permission module (1.0) for ExpressionEngine allows you to control member access to the contents of your front-end templates. Members can request to be given permission to look at a protected area. Designated admins can receive request notifications and approve or deny these requests.

Just wondering whether Permission will be returning to life? The features outlines in the documents are ones that I would very much like to implement in a site that I’m buildling. Thanks.

Member - Create Permission Points?

Hey guys!

I’ve been reading up on the documentation for this module and I’m really interested in how I can use it, though I’ve a few questions/suggestions.

I’d like to use this module as a ‘user clubs’ or ‘user groups’ module (think FaceBook - and the “groups” that people make on there).
Though I’ll call it user clubs as this avoids confusion with EE’s native member groups.

As far as I can see, this module does most of the things it needs to do:

* Check to see if a member has access to a club
* Request access to a club
* Approve members to access a club
* Assign a member to a club
* List members who belong to a club
* Remove members from a club

...with a few additions, this could become a very nice user clubs module:

* Ability for a member to create a club (This could just be a blog entry with a club/permission entry associated with it - this would allow for comments to be made on the clubs homepage, and custom weblog fields for easy editing by the club admin via a SAEF)
* Ability to list clubs that a member belongs to

What do you guys think?
I think this would kick ass! And I think there are a fair few people out there who would really appreciate a module like this. I know I’m not the only one out there building an online community with EE…

Is this module still available? I’d wouldn’t mind poking around with the existing one…

Permission Check not taking ‘member_id’ into consideration

exp:permission:check didn’t seem to be working as advertised, so I made this very simple test:

{segment_3}
{exp:permission:check name="crsi_rim" member_id="{segment_3}"}
{if approved}approved{/if}
{/exp:permission:check}

When I am logged in as an administrator and I view this page, no matter what segment_3 is, it displays approved. While logged out, I never see it.

what is exp_permission_params used for

The table keeps getting bigger and bigger, and yet, there doesn’t seem to be any important information in it. The values in the ‘data’ column are identical; the only thing that changes is the entry_date.

I must be blind - remove members from a permission point?

Hi… I am feeling really blind right now. How do I remove a member from a permission point? I don’t see a template in the docs for it, only for approval. Thankfully I don’t *need* to right now but it’d make me more comfortable if I had the template ready to go. =)

I have copied everything to its appropriate directory, but when I click “Install” in the modules tab of the control panel, I get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method Permission_CP::sql_params() in C:wwweeadminmodulespermissionmcp.permission.php on line 1300

Using Permissions 1.0.2 on EE 1.5.2

[Permission] Deleted members with pending requests…

If someone requests permission to a particular point, and then that member is deleted, the approval form will show the pending request as member ID 1. I was making sure everything was working on my system and had 3 different members, all requested permission, I deleted the users from EE and then went to the form: there are three requests for my username there. =)

The deletion process clearly can’t interact with the module, but it should probably have some sort of sanity check to make sure the member is still in existence.
