Hiya,

I was just wondering how easy it would be to use Freeform to send to a Moblog e-mail address? I have this set up and working but I an only get it to work in a very simple way. What I would need is a file-upload field for one image upload per form submission and then different fields for text entry that would be placed into different weblog fields via the Moblog. I am guessing that I would need to use the e-mail over-rides in some way from within Freeform but not really sure how I could get it to do this.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on this at all or perhaps an easier way of doing this. I don’t want to use the SAEF though as that would mean users having to use the EE upload utility which is just too many clicks for the people that I want to be able to upload the entries to the system. Instead I would just like a form that has a choose file field and then the relevant text fields.

Hope someone can help me out on this one.

Best wishes,

Mark

Actually, Gallery Extended was developed for that exact reason smile

Thanks Bruce.

Mark, Gallery Extended can help with images, but I think you’re wanting to create blog entries, which is not part of what GX2 can do.

Freeform might be able to help you as it is capable of accepting file attachments and mailing them along.

Hi Mitchell,

That’s what I meant yes. Did I not post this in the Freeform forum, I thought I did? If not then I apologise as I meant to.
So how would you go about formatting a freeform entry so that it is correct for a Moblog entry then? As everything needs to go into the body of the message and to use the e-mail over-rides it needs to be in a certain format would I need to use some Javascript to do this as I wouldn’t really want to rely on the people entering the data in doing it correctly!! grin

I would probably need something along these lines :

AUTH:my_username:my_password

{field
:body format="br"}This is the body text that I would like to have go into the field called body{/field:body}
{field
:tags format="none}some,tags,would,go,in,here{/field:tags}

IMAGE ATTACHMENT

The real problem I see is that to get the password you would have to keep on asking them for it every-time so that it can be inserted into the body of the e-mail which would probably get a little frustrating in the end for them. Also their password would then be getting sent in the plain so they may not like that.

Any ideas would be great on this one if anyone has any?

Best wishes,

Mark

Well I definitely think you’re taking on a challenge with this.

But I think my operating prrincipal would be to use Freeform’s capabilities of formatting emails, specifically the ability to use conditionals in those templates. I would use conditionals to control what I email to the server instead of sending raw data. As far as passwords go, I think you should just have a dedicated EE user account for this purpose. Don’t try to log each user in upon submission or anything.
