Is there any way, with the User module, to restrict which members can access which boards in an EE forum?

This discussion comes from the EE support forum.

seejay,

The same “problem” that the EE Member Module has, exists with the User Module as well.

If the User Module was to have such functionality, I’d imagine it’d be a big undertaking.
As Robin suggested, Member Groups is the only real way to go about this.

I’ll note this as a feature request though, and let Mitchell judge this one rasberry

Thanks smile

The challenge is that a member might be part of a group relating to their level of permissions for making changes to entries.

Then, in addition, they might have access to 5-10 different forum boards.

I can’t imagine how the member groups would allow that. Perhaps you can point me to a place where this has been discussed already.

I’m sorry to say it, but then you’re out of luck smile
What I was suggesting was having different member groups per “group”. You can then assign member groups to access of certain forums.
But as for overlapping, etc, then you’re out of luck…
