I am getting confused if we are understanding each other.

This sentence makes me assume there should be a new tab available in the publish/edit page.
“GX2 now includes a handy Image Tab for the Publish/Edit page in the CP to allow for easy image uploads and automatic Entry assigning!”
But I don’t have one.

To make sure. The functionality I am after is about the same as the relations in EE where I can relate a gallery entry to a weblog entry. The only problem I have is User Friendliness. When I relate a gallery with native EE functionality you get a pull down menu in the publish page with all the images in the gallery. That eh...... sucks. And when I want to relate more then one image I would have to create more relation fields, that even sucks more. So I need a tab in the publish page where the user can easily relate a couple of images from the gallery to a post. I want to use one of the images from the gallery as a thumb that links to the full article.

Is this what I can achieve with the Extended gallery or is it just for visitors of the site?

Dion,

I apologize for all the problems you’re encountering…
I guess “oops” doesn’t cut it in response to me forgetting to update the instructions for the new Publish/Edit tab feature. rasberry

You’ll need to make sure you upload all files to the appropriate locations on your server. They’re in folders to make it a little more obvious as to where each belong.
As for the Image Tab, you’ll need to enable the Gallery Extended extension via the Extension Manager smile

The idea of relating photos to entries really works to it’s fullest in a typical scenario, where you’d be uploading the images at the same time as adding the entry… correct? smile
In your case, it sounds like you already have a pool of photos uploaded into your site. You can still relate each photo to an entry, but you’ll have to do it manually per photo, by going into the Gallery Extended Module and editing the photo to contain the Entry ID of the Weblog Entry you’d like it to be related to.

I hope that makes sense… let me know how things go smile

Hi Pie Man, Thanks for the quick reply!

I have seen the extensions. It was enabled by default. I had to go to settings and press submit to get it to work. smile
Is it true a uses can upload a maximum of three related entries with the image tab or is there a way to get a couple of more fields there?

Not out of the box, though I wonder how easy it’d be to hack the code smile
