First, this is one of the older modules. There is not much documentation, but since it is shareware you can always download it and try it out before buying. The SAEF, in recent versions, allows to link to the CP file upload uitlity, but that still means the user needs to be allowed to access the control panel. This is not the case with this module.
Wow. The donation is really not apparent at all. I just bought the module (without trying it first, didn’t know you could). It seemed as if it cost $35. And not a donation.
In the EE forums, it also indicates that this is a paid module, not Shareware.
You may want to make this very clear on your website.
If the module does what I need it to, then money well spent. But it would have been nice to try it out first.
Hi Mitchell,
from what I have read in various posts it will allow me to upload images through a SAEF. All I need to know is will it allow me to do this without the user being logged into EE? All I need is a way of letting people upload images and text to enter a competition, so I do not really want or need them to become members of my site.
Strangely enough the moblog module seems to have much more flexible image upload functions than the SAEF in that you can set which directory the images are loaded into, status and image resizing without having to resort to the CP.
I’d suggest the first thing to consider, given your needs, is the Freeform module. It allows for non-members or members to submit a form and include file attachments. It might just be perfect for you and it’s our free module.
Yes, the Freeform module works extremely well, but I was hoping all the data could automatically be uploaded into a weblog so it is easy to publish. Between the Moblog, Freeform and SAEF everything is there that I need.. it is just that not being a developer I am rubbish at pulling them together
Yeah. You have one roadblock here. EE will not let a random Joe load content into a weblog. Because of that, people need to become members. I doubt that it helps, but the Freeform module has the ability to show entries from it’s database table on an EE page.
