I have installed 2.1.1 in EE 1.6.4 Build:  20080710

I get the image tab in Publish & Edit, then browse for file and then save the entry, everything seems to work except no image is uploaded.
I have uploaded an image via the normal Gallery module, then opened the Gallery Extended module and edited the image to include the related weblog id and it then shows in the Edit / Images tab for the entry.
Nothing shows in the Image viewer on the right, should it?
If I hover over the thumbnail the link goes to my system folder with the id number, so the path is wrong.
I have removed and re-installed the GX files twice in case there was an issue.

I’ve taken a look into your CP as per your PM.

You’ll need to first create at least one Category for your Photo Gallery (with the native EE Photo Gallery module), otherwise that behaviour (images not uploading) will happen.

Our next release of GX2 will at least give you a warning in this scenario, whereas it currently does not

There were 2 categories set up already within the EE Photo Gallery, General wide & General tall.
They also show up in the dropdown menu in the Edit & Images tab and allowed me to select one.

I have also checked the permissions for the folders on the server and they are set to 755 (777 is not allowed by my host).
The fact that I can upload images from the Gallery module shows that must be ok.

What about the link address of the image being wrong.
Should there be something on the right under Image Viewer?

Well, I noticed you had one image show up in there (I guess you must have manually “related” that photo with an entry, so that is not an issue…

Yes, I added the image via the Gallery and then edited the relationship in the Extended Gallery module.
I tried creating a new category and seeing if that worked, but no.

So any other clues about why it’s not working?
I have another licence for the module but I don’t want to update that to the new version until I know it will work. The EckO EE site is not public yet so I can play around, but the other site has lots of images already and several people using it.

The fact that there are not lots of other people reporting a problem means it must be me, but I can’t see why.

Have you/Can you try de-installing the module, reuploading a new set of files (fresh copy from Solspace site), and reinstall?
You will lose any “related” data, not any photos.

I have just uninstalled the extension and the module and re-uploaded new versions of the files and it still fails to work.

The question is, what did he do?
As I have another site using the module that I am wary of updating in case it fails.

The fix is also now released publicly - version 2.1.2. Just for hecks sake, I’d recommend download 2.1.2 and upgrading to it, unless your copy already says 2.1.2

hello, I have the exact same problems!
I’ve tried everything the same manner, and it still doesn’t work.
maybe it’s because I have a german installation?

i have EE 1.6.4 and gallery extended 2.1.2. just installed today.
I’ve created a category (after my first try without one)
I’ve uploaded a foto via the standard image gallery. it shows up in GXD and image gallery. status is open.
File permissions are 777
all files installed (I even dropped the language files in the german and deutsch folder)

on upload in the edit tab I see no thumbs. and images are not stored.

I don’t know what to do?
please help

Just to make sure we’re clear… are you saying that after the Upload/Edit completes, you’re seeing all the Entry Data on the “Completed/Updated” page, but no thumbnails of the images? That’s because you’re not supposed to

If you go back into the Entry to “edit” it again, in the Images tab, do you see the Image thumbnails there?

no, no.
I’ve tried to re-enter into edit mode. but nothing there. and no files in upload dir or whatsoever!

EDIT: I see that the category has been added, but no images!

everything works suddently…
Ipressed “update” instead of “quick save” and then everything worked fine!

if I press preview or quicksave the image_url get deleted! not the already uploaded images though… this seems a little buggy, or is this the expected behaviour?

I have two more questions:
is there a way to reorganize the image order within the tab??
and is there a way to display the images tab by default??
