SPC 2.1.1
EE 1.7.1
Safari 5.1.4

Having issues with Safari rendering pages. Instead it just downloads a file called .index.html.gz

What I mean by download is that it downloads the file.

This page http://drummagazine.com/features/post/chris-adler-working-mans-metal/ loads fine for me in Safari.

Is it only happening on your machine?

Are you still having this issue?

Ack! Sorry. We took pages off of SPS. Going to start-over.

But in general…
Should pages be showing up like this
http://website.com/static_page_caching/1/features/post/chris-adler-working-mans-metal/index.html.gz

or just like a normal page like this
http://website.com/features/post/chris-adler-working-mans-metal/index.html.gz

Thank you.

Then Houston we have/had a problem because we were getting the first one. Although it’s awesome that the second one is how it is supposed to look.

Will be fiddling around with the .htaccess and the preferences

Which I know there are a million variations but does this look about right [see attachment]?

originally for the URL Cache Folder we had “website.com/static_page_cache” but on another thread I noticed they had “http://www.website.com/static_page_cache”

Huzzah! Success.

Dear Future Generations:

If Safari is being a pain please review the following:

1) Preferences: Make sure that the URL for Cache Folder has the entire URL including the http: part

2) This may not apply but depending on your settings forcing the removal of WWW may cause issues.

Great! So your all set now?

I thought it odd that it worked in one browser and not another.

.htaccess rewrite rules can often be a sticky wicket!

Let me know if all is well and I will close out this thread.

OK.  Glad it is sorted.

I’ll mark this resolved.

Feel free to ask any further questions.
Just start a new thread.
