Hey guys!

I’ve been reading up on the documentation for this module and I’m really interested in how I can use it, though I’ve a few questions/suggestions.

I’d like to use this module as a ‘user clubs’ or ‘user groups’ module (think FaceBook - and the “groups” that people make on there).
Though I’ll call it user clubs as this avoids confusion with EE’s native member groups.

As far as I can see, this module does most of the things it needs to do:

* Check to see if a member has access to a club
* Request access to a club
* Approve members to access a club
* Assign a member to a club
* List members who belong to a club
* Remove members from a club

...with a few additions, this could become a very nice user clubs module:

* Ability for a member to create a club (This could just be a blog entry with a club/permission entry associated with it - this would allow for comments to be made on the clubs homepage, and custom weblog fields for easy editing by the club admin via a SAEF)
* Ability to list clubs that a member belongs to

What do you guys think?
I think this would kick ass! And I think there are a fair few people out there who would really appreciate a module like this. I know I’m not the only one out there building an online community with EE…

Is this module still available? I’d wouldn’t mind poking around with the existing one…

I’ll add those Feature Requests smile

As far as poking around with it? I believe it’s been taken offline for compatibility issues/testing.
Although, I can probably get you a copy of it… I’ll get back to you wink

I’m also extremely keen to try this module. Trying to work out how I’m going to deliver 3 distinctly different levels of access is making my brain hurt ...

Hey there,

Can we get the latest version of Permissions, pretty please?  It’s for an internal project so no worries about clients, we’ll take it as is.  I did obtain a copy from Mitchell a while back but didn’t get to work with it much, ended up going down another route with user management on that project.

Really itching to get my hands on it now as it’s PERFECT for an intranet where we need to “attach” users to any company account, control contractor/client access to project information, etc etc.

We’ll be testing it to its outermost limits and providing feedback on it, so your back will be scratched real good!  wink

Thanks!

Elise

I’ll promise you though… it’s not in working condition, although we plan to wipe the dust off this module and get it going again smile

Thanks!  Will email you -

Meanwhile, any chance you can specify what features doesn’t work? I did test the older version I had and at its most basic, it worked.  That’s as far as I got, though - the basic functionality.

As long as the basic functionality still works I believe we can use it.  There’s tons of other tricks that we can use where/if Permissions fall short.  We probably don’t even need Permissions (thanks to other modules like User), but I’m thinking long term ability to manage client/contractor access via our custom control panel for administrative staff who don’t do web development and therefore need a really intuitive interface.

From my basic testing alone, these are some of the issues I encountered (testing with EE 1.6.2 - so some bugs are compatibility issues):
A lot of it though is probably just minor fixes that unfortunately hold major functionality. I may have also been incorrectly using some things or expecting features that don’t exist, as I’m not very familiar with the module.

Permission:Member List
- {description} variable does not work at all (except within Check loop..... although strangely intermittant)
- {name}, {label}, and {description} variables do not work in Member List within Permission:Check loop (...although strangely intermittant)
- Shows “Pending” Member in list that has not yet been approved.

Permission:Assign
- Return Parameter forward slash
- Does not seem to remember/know if Member has been assigned already.

Permission:Request
- Return Parameter forward slash

Permission:Approve
- Return Parameter forward slash
- Does not seem to remember/know if Member has been assigned already.
- Does not seem to allow Members other than Admins to be approved.
- Delete feature seems to be a little clunky. I had 3 members ACCEPTED, yet they still show in the Request Que (as noted above). When selecting the Delete button and for example - 1 Member, then submit… the other 2 were deleted completely

Permission:Check
- {name}, {label}, and {description} variables do not work if you’re not Accepted, and ONLY outside the {if approved} {if not_approved} conditionals

If you guys have anything else you find, please post them here smile
