I’m a new user of the tags module, on a site still in development.  I’m trying to understand how to set it up to get my tags to work with Technorati.  I come from a Wordpress background (yuck!) and we had plugins that would let us enter the tags, and then when someone searched for that tag keyword in Technorati, my tagged post would be included in the results list.

Does this tags module do this automatically, or do I need to do something else in EE?  I don’t see anything in the Tags config pages in EE.

I’m not very familiar with Technorati, but it seems that you just apply rel="tag” to your Tag:Tags links code, like this:

Can I ask you something I’m confused about?  I’m used to Word Press where Technorati Tags is something most bloggers set up for. It’s a pretty big subject with WP. Now that I’m working with EE, I see barely any interest in Technorati. Bot, I haven’t built a blog for about a year; I’m wondering if anything has changed to make Technorati less relevant, or if there is some reason Technorati holds less interest in the EE community?

I guess for one thing, a lot of people use ExpressionEngine as a CMS, as it is very powerful and flexible in that sense…
And the fact that ExpressionEngine goes for $149.95 personal or $249.95 for commercial licenses… probably eliminates a lot of casual bloggers… over something free.

So I guess having to manually add rel="tag” to your Tag code isn’t that bad

And as far as the Tag Module tagging goes… I use it on three of my sites, yet none of them are used in the traditional manner (instead, more of a behind the scenes tool to make use of related entries, etc… so I would have no interest in having those sites crawled by Technorati)
