Is there any way to (from the control panel) have a custom field say, where we can rate a post as we’re writing the article?

You mean publish an entry, and post a review through the Rating Module in one shot?

No, currently not anyway

There is a way this could possibly be done.

You could use the EE SAEF to publish the entry, and with the help of the Solspace SAEF Redirect, you can aim your SAEF redirect to another template with the Rating Form loaded up, then take it from there…

Essentially, a two-part Publish form.
