Hey guys,

I’ve been struggling with a problem for a while now.

My user:edit photo upload has stopped working properly - seemingly since my MSM install.

My members currently can’t easily upload a photo! Which is really bad!

It just seems to be really picky with what it accepts, constantly spewing out ”You are not authorized to perform this action.”. Which isn’t very helpful.
I’ve upped the size restrictions to 2000px by 1500px, 1000Kb yet sometimes smaller images give me errors about wrong sizes - ”The filetype you are attempting to upload is not allowed, The type of image you are attempting to upload is not an allowed type.” (I find this strange as both errors appear at once, saying the same thing but differently).

I’ve tried changing security settings, turning images on and off - nout seems to work.

A tested example:
(I have a photo already uploaded)
1. I navigate to my ‘/account/edit_photo/’ page.
2. I upload the same photo I already uploaded (which obviously uploaded successfully in the past) - It uploads! My page is now ‘/account/edit_photo/updated/’
3. I attempt to upload the same photo again, on the ‘/account/edit_photo/updated/’ page - It fails! You are not authorized to perform this action.
4. I press ‘back’ on the browser navigation and am at ‘/account/edit_photo/’ once more. I upload the same photo again - It fails! You are not authorized to perform this action.

I get the ”The filetype you are attempting to upload is not allowed, The type of image you are attempting to upload is not an allowed type.” errors with larger filesizes within all the given size restrictions… (280Kb file attempt with a 1000Kb limit)

I’m really stuck here so any help would be much appreciated!

I’ve tried changing templates now but no joy there either :(

Anyone else with this problem? (someone who has MSM - though I cant be 100% sure that is related).

Blood stained software. Or perhaps Blood Stained Software, Inc.

Damn!
I almost missed a perfectly good opportunity to collectively poke Solspace with a large stick and cry ’Friends module‘...?

Any titbits to tease me with?
Perhaps speculation of a release era?

OK guys - back again!

There is definately still some sort of upload bug playing up. Seems to be certain images.

For example, I had a JPG which someone reported to me that they could not upload. I tried, and could not upload it, but the minute I made a change to it (like the filename) - it uploads!
Seeing as the file was downloaded from a webserver (in this case, a Windows LIVE gallery). I’m thinking there must be some kind of embedded information it doesn’t like, but when Windows writes to the file on your PC, it saves something over the top of it.

Anyway - This is very odd and it would be good if one of you guys could check this at your end.

Mitchell - I will PM you the location of the file so hopefully you can test this out.

Thanks

T

I dozed off for about 18 days as soon as I read Windows in your post. I really have nothing good to say about how Windows machines manage and deal with image data. Completely over my head.

That being said, is this safe to say that the issue is resolved or rather, a non-factor?

I believe the current issue is uploading JPG’s saved/downloaded from a Windows Live Gallery. smile
So such would not be related to MSM
